The ROLLARENA . . . a roller-skating rink opened in the very early 1900s. It was destroyed by fire in 1955 and was replaced with the Mecca Locarno ballroom, costing £550k in the early 1960s. It later became Dollars & Dimes and the Palace before being turned into Penningtons and then the Town and Country.
