It was in this area some years ago the Phantom Flame Flinger of old Walsall town struck again destroying a couple of the houses so badly they had to be demolished and spoiling a lovely row of houses.

The top floor of this building housed the Art Department of the Walsall Litho'. Started work here on Monday 12 August 1963 as a Junior Artist. The photograph shows just one of the hundreds and thousands of Metcraft seals produced by the Litho' over the years.

"Stop and inspect" would have to be sent if this was a down freight train as there is no brake van at the rear. It would seem to be an up train being shunted with the brakes vans (there appear to be two) next to the locomotive.

Difficult to think looking at this picture that the area shown between Bradford Street and the railway, was the site of the old Walsall Racecourse which ran from circa 1754-1876.

For some reason "reply to this comment" does not seem to be working on this picture.
