All of these photographs are described as mills of 'J F Firth and Son' - actually the company name was T F Firth and Son. And now in 2012 there is not a single building left - not one. What was once a major carpet producer and employer (I worked there myself as a student in the 1970's, and my mother worked there part time in the 1950's and 60's) has vanished completely. Most of the land has been used for housing. |

Actually it's not true that there are no buildings left - I must correct myself. The office building is still there. But the rest have disappeared. |
