In fact, THE only example. The Ashover Railway near Clay Cross bought some of the transporter wagons, but they weren't practical on the narrower gauge (2ft as against 2ft 6in) and the less well designed track of the other Peak District narrow gauge railway, and lingered out of use until they were sold for scrap. |

To view the loading of a standard gauge wagon onto a narrow gauge wagon see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWZbZGGnE6E Most of of the Leek and Manifolds goods traffic was handled in this way to save transhipment at the break of gauge.... the film shows milk in churns in narrow gauge wagons. |

How wonderful to see this. Have only known the site from boyhood walks and one of the sheds is still standing. Seem to remeber a good pub nearby. Lovely part of the world. |
