I lived on Leek New Road immediately next to this works until I left home around 1960. I remember that the adjacent brick-works used to start burning the cheaper poor quality coal as the sun went down. It was less obvious at that time of day.

I was a pupil at this school in the 1950's. Mr Gassick was one of the teachers. The Knotty railway ran on a high embankment next to the playground. John

My father was the manager at Cobridge Brick and Marl for over 40 years and nearly every week I would visit the works up until it was closed. I lived in the Hamil Road area and walked through the Sneyd Colliery complex and always found it fascinating.
