This shows, particularly, Nos 15-27 Sandy Lodge Lane, when about four years old. One can see how Merchant Taylors, have bought all the land not yet developed, and have therefore caused the cut-off diagonal section of Askew Road, so as to circumvent their land. The three giant elm trees were felled c1975, and the stump of a fourth can be seen just north of them, but equally spaced. What is now the school drive was then just another field boundary. Sandy lodge Golf Club Pro's Shop and the Artisan's Hut remain still. |
