Looks like it doesn't it MB?! A cursory internet search this morning didn't find anything on this remarkable feature - I guess it's like the various Napoleonic and Crimea period cannons dotted around the country as trophies or war memorials.

Yes, a Mk.IV Female. My father recalled playing on it as a child, and pointed out the location when I was a kid. I think part of the hard standing where it was parked was still there then, in late 1950s.



There were dozens (264, according to one source) distributed to towns around the country after WW1, most of which, like this one, were scrapped in the 1920s or early 1930s. Only Ashford in Kent retains theirs (mainly because it was gutted and used to house an electricity sub-station at one time!), originally it would have been a twin to this one.

My mam lived at 27 senhouse street where brackenthwaite home stands today, anyone else have family in this area, spent many a day reminicing with my mam about her good times as child in town.....sadly missed.
