Dentonholme South Viaduct. Destroyed by a runaway Freightliner goods train 1984. The signalman re-routed the out of control train onto the goods avoiding line and away from Citadel station, almost certainly averting a major incident and loss of life.

Date of the accident was the 1st May 1984. There was no formal investigation by the Railway Inspectorate, so no official report was published.
