This was originally a grain mill (or corn mill, if you prefer). In 1812 it had two waterwheels and four pairs of millstones and advertised as 'capable of being converted to paper making'. The mill was purchased by Jas. Swann in 1823 and converted to paper making. 45 staff were then employed here. There were other Oxfordshire paper mills at Broughton, Deddington, Eynsham, Hampton Gay, Hazelford, Henley, North Newington, Shiplake, Taynton, Widford and Wolvercote.
