I lived with my parents in this row of houses behind the church, at 19 Tower Square, as an infant between 1955 and 1957.

Heckmondwikes own power station. The complex also housed the towns public baths and swimming pool.

These rows of houses are known locally as the Eighty Houses. Built by the L&NWR to rehouse people who were displaced by the construction of the railway line in this image.
