The Skefco Ball Bearing Company (SKF)was founded in Luton in 1910 as a subsidiary of the Swedish company Svenska KullagerFabriken AB. A major supplier for the motor industry, it grew rapidly and by 1960 it had 6000 employees and was second in size in Luton only to Vauxhall's 19000 employees. |
