The Coach & Horses is the adjoining property in Castle Street (No.2). The property on the corner would have been Hearn's Stores in 1928 - wine & spirits merchant. |

Not exactly. The Council had occupied but not owned the building but had built new council offices in South Street in 1901. Would have been known as the Corn Exchange in 1928 - now Town Hall Buildings. |

This is W.Ayling who had taken over the cycle shop of a W.C.Wiltshire, who had moved into selling motor cars! I think it is 118 East Street. |

The title of this picture is incorrect. It should be 'The junction of South Street, East Street, Bear Lane and The Borough'. The Woolmead only came into existence in late 1960s when a major rebuilding of the junction took place and Wooldmead was created parallel with East Street. |

This is Farnham, Surrey. The shop with 'BENTALL' on the sunblind is close to the junction of The Borough, South Street, and Bear Lane. The old building set back from the road, next to Bear Lane has been demolished and the road widened. The mile post/direction indicator seen in the photo at this junction is shown on the 1936 O.S map. The grid reference for the junction is SU84074695. I presume the Cycle Works sign actually reads 'FARNHAM', but Andy's suggestion made me think of Farnham. |

Dear all, That’s great; we’ve reviewed your comments and thanks to your help we can update the catalogue. You may like to know that the original Aerofilms Ltd Rgister entry for this image is "not located - In Berks" but they had previously flown over Whitchurch. The revised record will appear here in due course. Many thanks! Katy Whitaker Britain from Above Cataloguer |
