My family worked for 3 generations at Clibrans. My grandfather was their Forestry Department foreman, My Father was in the Farm Seeds Department and my mother worked as a typist. I worked on rose budding gangs in the summer holidays and as a seedsman between university and a job as a scientist. Clibrans had the Royal Warrant for their Roses at Sandringham. They were a major employer in the Altrincham area and had nursery farms at Timperley and Ashley where I was born. All that is left are some names on seed packets. The main site is now a housing estate.
