Hallams passage ran diagonally here between Bramhall Lane and Wellington Road (A6). Quite a scary place at night as it was totally unlit and bounded for most of its route by windowless gable ends of the terraced houses which edged it on the one side and the 8 foot brick boundary wall of the Squirrel works on the other. The whole place was frequented by rats which would climb over from the squirrel and wander along the passage looking for food. |

This small shop was colloquially known as 'the little shop' and sold most everything in the grocery and tobacco ranges - including '5 packs of Woodbines'! |

During the 1940's and 1950's this area used to be called "The Wreck" and it consisted of broken down buildings and some old dilapidated playground furniture. A GREAT place to play! |

Flash back to my younger days when we use to feed the swans that were on the pond when we were coming home from school at St georges. |
