Kelvindale Drive wasn't there in 1927. I think this is the drive to a large house called "Oaklands", which appears on the Ordnance Survey map of 1910 as a fairly new property - it isn't represented on the 1875 map - but which, as far as I recall, was no longer there by the time I was wandering the area as a teenager round about 1960. |

Stockport Road looks absolutely level out to the entrance to Baguley station. Was there a level crossing, and not a bridge in 1927? |

The A560 Stockport Road crosses the railway between Timperley village and Baguley station, just west of the junction with Brooklands Road. If you click to enlarge that bit of the picture, you can see the bridge, which I believe is still the same as today - I don't think it's ever been reconstructed. The A560 doesn't cross the railway again until just before Sharston, west of the old Northenden station. |
