The Farningham, now Lime Tree House. Another 1920's-30's road house that has ceased to be viable as a pub. At least it's not another McDonalds, as many others are in the area. The attached photo is from the North looking down the hill |

As it is today. The view from the modern entrance, Dartford Road (on the left in the 1926 photo) towards the relatively new roundabout. The exit onto the A20 is now to the right of the 1926 photo.

So little traffic and no road markings means that drivers can use the middle of the road. That's three points! |

There is a signwritten reference to Rolls Royce Ltd on the front of this new timber shed. I can't read the rest unfortunately.

As with the front, it says the same on the side panel, with...'CHASSIS LUBRICATING SERVICE' added on the bottom line. |

Lots of detail here. Motorbike and sidecar on one side and a car on the other side filling up with petrol. Note the old glass pumps! |

Hi Allen T, This is a great pic, I love the assembled crowd! Any idea what the vehicle is, in between the shed and the garage, up on a ramp? Whittocks |

Hi Whittocks great spot, I hadn't noticed the car on the ramp, must get a magnifying glass. There's so much great detail in these photos. I didn't realise until checking the photo against Google Earth that I was in this garage (now Texaco) getting petrol a few weeks ago. Do you think there are steps cut into the A20 cliff face further up or is that drainage? |

Looks like steps to me. I wonder if that vehicle is a car or not, can't make up my mind. Almost looks like a waggon or something horse-drawn. Road use and car use are positively hilarious in these early photos, keep a look out for car parks! There are some amazing examples, with people parked up next to one another; the drivers would have to wait ages before getting out of the crowd. |

Definitely a car. By repeatedly double clicking on the image you can bring it up about 8x magnification and see the running board etc. We need a 1920's car enthusiast to confirm the different makes! |

Well done, I wonder how old it is to be tucked up out of the way like that. |

I think it could be a circa 1917 Model T Ford as in this picture. |

Great picture! Wonder if the vehicle in the air photo ever made it onto the road again? |

This looks like the same car parked beside the wooden hut in EPW016846 so it was roadworthy and possibly took to the road again. Mind you there's two months between the photos. |
