I think this is The Ditch that ran from Upper Rushall Street through to Ablewell Street and now forms part of the ring road around St. Matthews.

The Walsall Brotherhood building opened in November 1903. The accompanying picture shows the building in the 1960s and also the trowel that Sir frank James used to lay the foundation stone. The inscription reads:- Presented to Frank James J.P., D.L. at the laying of the stone of the Walsall Brotherhood Social Club. Tuesday July 21st 1903.

First factory of J. A. Crabtree Co. Ltd., opened in 1919. It was occupied by the company until 1926 when the new premises in Lincoln Road, Chuckery were opened.
