The mill may have become part of the Rank Hovis McDougall combine. The firm of Thomas Hanley & Sons Ltd is included in Rank Hovis McDougall Ltd records at The Museum of English Rural Life, University of Reading

This was a Joseph Rank/Rank Hovis McDougall mill by 1952.

Probably photographed because the flour mill had been rebuilt after a major fire in September 1923. Only the shell of the old mill remained then; the loss was estimated at £90,000.

In 1932 Thomas Hanley & Sons Ltd commissioned a new grain-carrying sailing barge from Richard Dunston's yard at Thorne. It was used primarily to bring grain from Hull docks.
