I believe that this is Rochetts (House/Hall?) near to South Weald, Brentwood. Most of the building to the right and left of the tower and the tower itself have been demolished, but the house in the centre is recognisable today. The road and buildings at the top of the picture and the lake line up with Google earth pic attached. |

Great "spot" Graeme! You may be interested to know that the original Aerofilms Ltd Register entry reads "T.W. Wards Grays". We'll update the catalogue and post the new data here in due course. Yours, Katy Britain from Above Cataloguing Team Leader |

Thanks Katy, Unless the house was owned by TW Wards, I don't think it has anything to do with the scrap metal business!! Graeme |

Think this picture over-exposed (not meant as criticism -I'm sure I would have done far worse). I think picture taken from south - long shadows imply very early/late in day, but presence of shadows means sunny. |

Large Classical country house added to what appears to be an older tower - possibly a pele tower, which could indicate Borders, or Northumberland. Also note the wing to the beyond the tower - seems to be 'E-plan' which could be an even older house. The large wing at the other end seems slightly-oversize, perhaps Victorian. This house has the feel of one which has been added to over successive eras. |
