Being a Leicester City supporter since 1957 this is an interesting shot of the Filbert Street stadium. At the time the only seated stand was the main stand and the rest was standing room only. The double decker stand was built in the late 1920's behind the goal to the right. We relocated from dear old Filbert Street in 2001 to the Walkers (now King Power) stadium, which is 800m to the right. It is interesting to note that a match is being played at the time of the photo. I also remember the County Cricket ground which beacme the Electric Sports ground and soent many a happy Sunday in the 1950's watching my father play cricket there for Everard's Brewery. |
