| The short cul-de-sac in the centre of the photo, just above the main tennis court, is the present-day Nursery Road. The complex of buildings in the centre, presumably part of the tennis club at the time, is now the site of Wimbledon ambulance station. | SurbitonEd | Monday 25th of June 2012 08:35:21 PM |
| The old ground alongside the Railway Path & what was then the L&SWR near Elm Grove. Tennis moved shortly afterwards and the land became the sports ground for The Wimbledon High School for Girls. My mother won a scholarship there and she played hockey on this ground before WW2. It is still visible, now smaller, and covered with artificial turf, but hockey is still played there. | gruntie | Monday 25th of June 2012 12:26:08 PM |
