Kensington Barracks (sometimes called Kensington Palace Barracks) was a small cavalry barracks built in 1858, to replace the older and inadequate Life Guards House barracks at Kensington Gate.
Latterly, they served as HQ London District Royal Military Police before closing in 1972.
The buildings remained for some years, being used as a student centre and for housing Vietnamese refugees.
The buildings were eventually demolished and the site redeveloped as Lancer Square. |
