Construction of the Stores and the Post Office Factory began around 1912 and continued at intervals until the 1980s, absorbing all of the Norton School site. There was some serious bomb damage to buildings during WWII. Demolition started in the 1980s and by 2000 all of the site had been cleared and given over to new housing.
