Hi Pete, the 1909 extension was dismantled in 1912. The current platform was constructed in 1929, so the 1920 date is actually OK for this image as the there was no extension between 1912 and 1929. Aerial photography wasn't really around anyway in 1910; indeed aeroplanes were quite a novelty. The dates for the images in this archive are pretty bang-on. |

Aerofilms were founded in 1919, using aircraft and techniques developed in World War One, particularly over the Western Front. |

The paddle steamer is probably heading for the North Pier |

The Pier is Grade II* Listed and was opened in 1867. It was damaged in 1984, and again by storms in 1990. It has been closed since 1994. The decking is in a dangerous state. Developments for an hotel etc have been proposed but have yet to come to fruition |
