| Many of the houses in this terrace (as well as the terraces on the other side of the road) were built on the site of a former market garden/orchard. A few of the original apple trees are still in evidence. The houses were built by St. John's College, University of Oxford, and for many years were rented to College staff: scouts, butlers, gardeners, electricians, cooks etc. |
