Post-war prefab housing off Fryent Way. It was called Pilgrims Way and one of those living there was none other than a young Charlie Watts, future drummer in the Rolling Stones.

The Chalkhill Estate. Seen here as a very picturesque Metroland development, in the late 60s local authority lunatics had it swept away and replaced by a concrete jungle estate of high-density flats. The estate quickly became notorious for criminality and anti-social behaviour and has also now been swept away.

The LNER stadium loop line that was built to service the British Empire Exhibition of 1924/25 and later Wembley Stadium events. It had fallen into disuse by the 1960s and was removed, although much of its route can still be traced.

This is a short residual section of the miniature Never Stop Railway that was built to transport visitors around the site of the British Empire Exhibition of 1924/25. There is archive newsreel footage available that shows King George V and Queen Mary riding quite self-consciously upon it. This short remaining section of elevated concrete remained in place up until at least the 1960s but has probably now been swept away during the many developments that have taken place on the site.
