This photo shows the works in the setting of the reservoirs and surrounding countryside, still unspoiled today. The railway line heads north towards Blackburn (running from Chorley). If you look beyond Heapey station and the white, stone built building at the top of the ramp from the station (which was the Railway pub, owned by Lion brewery) you can can just see where the line veers to the left to enter the munitions stores connected with the Royal Ordnance factory at Chorley, some 3 or four miles distant. |
