I am a resident of Scott Court which I was surprised and a little disturbed to discover has been built on the site of what used to be a morgue! Do you have any more information about this? When it was demolished, was it a wartime necessity etc? Thanks. Mick

To Mick, it was a Morgue for as long as I can recall. It was used daily and as school children we could see the bodies being brought in to the building usually by Ambulance. Our school was next to it and only a wall separated the two!

I can remember the first time i saw a man coming out of the building to let the ambulance men bring a body (a woman) in on a stretcher and he had his shirt sleeves rolled up, he had a lot of blood on his hands, arms and apron.I wasn't aware that it had been demolished.
