The almost central white long conical shape then changes to a long dark roofing just previous to a roadway bridge is without doubt Horbury Millfield Road station centrally placed between the rail tracks. Entry to the station from that road bridge is clearly visible as a dark building with a roof shape uppermost which contrasts with the white road across the bridge. A downward sloped roof from that dark building is the top of the entrance steps down to platform level. There are two rail tracks either side of platform. The outer on right of photo is the Up Slow from Wakefield direction the inner track next to the station is the Up Fast from Wakefield. The two tracks on the left of photo are Down Fast next to station and the outermost track the Down Slow traveling towards Wakefield. Zooming in & from the station & using the top white arrow brings the railway premises into view shows signal box Horbury Millfield Road, Horbury Junction Sidings exit from West end the full sidings and the East end with the line from Barnsley joining the route from Millfield Road at Horbury Junction. The signal box visible on left towards Wakefield. The water of the sand & gravel excavation is that lake like mass at top of photo. "Caldervale" |
