Newton Farm, which lent its name to nearby Garringtons Newton Works, and Newton Road. The farmhouse itself was demolished in the mid-1950s.

This building was situated at the end of South Road, Aston Fields and became (certainly in the 1960s/70s) a meter test station and Training school for Midlands Electricity Board. It was here that I attended courses over a 3 year period during my apprenticeship (1965/69) to become a High Voltage Cable Jointer. Eventually going onto become an Instructor in this skill at the same location. One thing that I do remember is the noise from Garringtons when there press was operating, in addition you could feel the vibration through the ground.
