Wheathamstead Railway station - closed 1965. See http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/w/wheathampstead/index.shtml for photos and information. In late 2009 a local group of volunteers started a programme of clearance and partial restoration of the station site.

Railway sidings serving the gravel workings on this site, and then bringing in landfill to be tipped into the closed workings. The railway line, closed to Luton in 1965, remained open between here and Welwyn Garden City to service the tip until the tip was closed in May 1971; the railway to Welwyn Garden City was cleared away within a month or two.
