| Tithe barn known as The Spanish Barn.In 1588 the Spanish ship Nuestra Senora Del Rosario was captured off Corbyn head and 397 prisoners where held in this barn for 2 weeks
It has a ghost, 2 versions of the story:- 1/ one of the "sailors" was a fiance of one of the sailors who died, and her ghost is roaming the grounds looking for her future husband and 2/ She died and her ghost is seen at 12 midnight on every full moon walking towards Corbyn head |

| Torre Abbey was founded in 1196 and from 14?? to 1930 was the home of the Cary family, who being short of money sold it to Torquay council.
It has 2 ghosts, one of a young cannon who was murdered by and older cannon, and of Lady Cary, whose ghost is seen roaming the grounds on still nights
It reopens to the public in the summer of 2013 |

The building in the lower half of this photo is 'The Spanish Barn', so named after it was used to house 397 prisoners of war from the Spanish Armada for two weeks in 1588. Prior to the prisoners being held there it was called 'The Tithe Barn' and was built in the early thirteenth century along with the Abbey - in the centre of the photo. |
