 In this field adjoining chalky hill I found many ,dozens of small cannonballs and was told this is where troops stopped in preparation for the battle of cheriton in 1644 its all grape vines now. |

Green Lane Farm is mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon charter of King Ine in 701, which defined the boundaries of the Liberty Of Alresford, including Grenmenes stigele or Green Lane Farm. |
