Although difficult to discern as such, this must be the large pond that still exists in Cutteslowe Park, exactly the same shape, with its island in the middle. By 1947 this area was already a public park, owned by the City Council. |

This track, clearly visible running NNE and cutting across the northern ring-road into what is now Cutteslowe Park, marks what I believe to be a very ancient drovers' road, whose line has been preserved to a good extent into the 21st century. The line just north of the ring road has very old hedgerows. The road would have taken farmers and their stock, all the way into the centre of Oxford and its livestock markets, running parallel to (but not disturbing) the public road to Banbury. |
