At, or near, this marker was the site of 2ndWW searchlight battery No. 41117 at Newsham Park. It was manned by the 38 Anti-Aircraft Battalion Royal Engineers. The battery was operational by 14 May 1940 and positioned to protect Liverpool from air attack
