An incongruous tenement building known locally as the 'Windjammers'. It housed a local council school as well as other tenants. The school had not long vacated the building and moved to other premises at the time of this photograph.
The building was damaged as the result of enemy action during WW2 and was demolished a few years after the end of the war. '
