Where my mother lived as a child until the German Blitz of 1942 and where her brother was killed that night, opposite the Clifton Inn, which is the only building in the street still standing.

Site of the Exeter swimming baths started ten years after this photograph was taken and finished in 1941 with modern art deco architecture. The swimming baths survived the 1942 blitz and are still in full use, now modernised and called The Pyramids.

Exeter City Corporation bus depot and garage. The Corporation buses were green in colour and operated within the city limits. Cleaning and repair/maintenance of the city buses was done within this building now demolished.
