Paignton Pier. Sectioned as a defence measure in 1940, for fear of German invasion, the damaged neck was eventually repaired once hostilities had ceased.

RAVENSWOOD SCHOOL,named after this property - 'Ravenswood' wasformed here by Durbin S SparkMC, BA in 1920, A year before this image (which was taken in 1928) the school had outgrown the facilities and it was relocated to Stoodleigh Court, Stoodleigh Nr Tiverton, Devon. From 1928 until the 1990s it survived but eventually closed in the early 1990s. A website exists with many recollections and much information on the school including school photographs going back right to those early days in Paignton. http://www.ravenswoodschool.co.uk In 2014 this building, Ravenswood, Cliff Road remains, the majority of the gardens to the south and east are in the care of the Burma Star Association.
