Dear J May Thank you for confirming this so quickly. I wasn't sure whether this was Consett or Port Clarence,as I had ancestors working at both sites. By 1911 my grandfather was a foreman Metal carrier at Port Clarence, so I've assumed the stern looking chap wearing the bowler hat must be him. Have you read At The Works by Lady Florence Bell? It has fantastic information about the lives of families who lived and worked in this industry at the time. I loved the advert of Bell Bros.Good to hear from you. My grandfather was a metal carrier at Bell Bros Ironworks Port Clarence. I'm fairly sure, but am open to comment, that a photo as attached is of the Clarence Ironworks. They must have been a tough crew, carrying 9st lumps of pig-iron for a living.	Teamaker	Monday 2nd of March 2015 01:24:21 PM
Hi Teamaker, I believe this is the old Bell Bros. Clarence Works, though by the time of this photo, 1932, it would of been Dorman Long. What a great photo of the ironworkers, thanks for sharing it.
