These look like cotton bales, but this is almost certainly not a cotton mill, so what do you know of that is stored & transported in a bale as big as a cotton bale. |

As cotton is used in 'cotton paper' it may simply be cotton. Although I though it more usual to use cotton rag (old clothes). |

The Radyr branch, which connected Radyr to Penarth Dock, crosses over the main line from Cardiff to the west, there was no junction here. Just to the right on the main line, is a level crossing giving road access to Ely Paper Mill. This crossing was closed in the 1930s. A footbridge was provided which is still there today. |
