Hi Anthony,

Thanks for indicating this. My Grandmother was born in this house (1901) as my family were tenants on the farm (I think it was also called Heath Row Farm at some stage). The land at the time was rented from the Coutts family who were the land owners. Cains Lane is still there on the SE side of the Airport and it looks like one of the emergency access roads running into the airport follows the same track as the old Cains Lane.

I believe it was reported that this hangar became the subject of some lengthy litigation, between the original owners, Fairey Aviation and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and as a consequence was not demolished until the 1960's.



It featured in quite a few contemporary photographs as the

bill-board for airline advertising, on the side that faced

towards the terminal buildings.



I think it also served as the Airport Fire Station for a time.
