Exeter's spread to the North East continued into all of the fields in this photo throughout the thirties, forties and fifties and the areas became Beacon Heath and Whipton and then on towards Pinhoe.

The relentless spread of housing from Exeter to local villages continued and accelerated in the 1930's, in this case from Posloe Bridge towards the ancient village of Whipton which was finally incorporated into the suburban sprawl in the 1930's and by the early 1950's housing had moved onwards towards Pinhoe.
