Austin Fields MGN Goods Shed for the station never completed. However The Priory on the corner and this building remained in use by the MGN
for several years, and one contractors line served cattle pens for maybe two years, before all the resources ready for the station , were instead
used to build South Lynn railway station. Because the intended Austin Street Station would need to have crossed over the Docks line, it would
have been a difficult junction with limited space available. It was a time of conflict with Great Eastern, until both came to terms with sharing
means, to make profit.... The goods shed burned down in the 1960`s and its space is now (2023) under the Post Office Service car park corner. |
