Chittening National Filling Station. This factory was established during World War I to fill artillery shells with Chloropicrin for use in chemical warfare. In June 1918 Chittening was supplied with freshly manufactured mustard gas by the National Smelting Company and by November 1918 had produced 85,424 mustard gas shells.
