Hockmore Street. Now under Cowley Centre main shopping avenue. The new road was re-routed with the Nelson pub becoming south of the new Hockmore Street. The original housing on Hockmore Street was demolished for the shopping centre.

It really wants to make you cry what they did to this place. Someone ought to hold their head in shame. I wrote this in 2020. The whole area was obliterated by the monstrosity of the "Cowley Centre". Who ever let this happen? Cowley may still have looked like 17th Century Britain in 1953 but it was a community and was followed by St Ebbes. The only area's of Oxford that may have survived this desecration was Headington Village, Osney and of course Jericho.
