Temporary Holy Angels [?] church. This was located in a Nissen hut at the end of a short track behind the original Cranford Village Primary school [itself replaced by the one at the end of Berkeley Avenue].

This area, known to the local kids as the 'Back Fields' in the 1950's & 60's, was a wasteland and unofficial adventure playground with dumped cars and other stuff to mess about with, trees to climb and the river to get wet in. It's all been tidied up and turned into a small park with children's playground, and, either side of the river, a nature reserve. I preferred it as it was, but then that's 60 years ago, when life was both simpler and safer.....

Dudset Farm Accessed at the end of Dudset Lane by a small footbridge over the River Crane, you could still buy fresh eggs [and possibly other stuff] from the farmhouse in the 1950's.

Brick building similar to the Heathrow Middle Marker Building in Green-Man Lane. Something to do with Radio Signals for Landing Aircraft. Photo can be seen on Rayner`s family web site in a view from the farm house.

The George Wimpey Camp. Built to accommodate the men that built Heathrow Airport. Wimpey gave the local children a Coronation Party there. The main entrance in Green Man Lane can still be seen but is gated. Later became the BEA Trident Centre. Parts were used as apprentice accommodation, Training, Printing etc, The buildings have been removed but the land is used by the BAA.
