This was located in a Nissen hut at the end of a short track behind the original Cranford Village Primary school [itself replaced by the one at the end of Berkeley Avenue]. |

This area, known to the local kids as the 'Back Fields' in the 1950's & 60's, was a wasteland and unofficial adventure playground with dumped cars and other stuff to mess about with, trees to climb and the river to get wet in. It's all been tidied up and turned into a small park with children's playground, and, either side of the river, a nature reserve. I preferred it as it was, but then that's 60 years ago, when life was both simpler and safer..... |

Dudset Farm
Accessed at the end of Dudset Lane by a small footbridge over the River Crane, you could still buy fresh eggs [and possibly other stuff] from the farmhouse in the 1950's. |
