The North Lindsey Light Railway was opened in several stages between 1906 and 1910, reaching the Humber Estuary at Whitton. Operated originally by the Great Central Railway on behalf of the S Yorkshire Light Railway Syndicate, it was incorporated into the London and NE Railway at the 1923 Grouping. It was still open for goods traffic as far as West Halton until at least 1955. Part of it remains to serve industry near Dragonby and the wharf on the Trent at Flixborough Stather. |
