| Bristol Aeroplane Co. Engine Department "West Works". Based around three triple-bay hangars this was where the Engine Department was founded in 1920 when Roy Fedden brought his prototype Jupiter engines from the bankrupt Cosmos business.
A 1959 merger created Bristol Siddeley which merged with Rolls-Royce in 1966.
West Works were demolished in 1996(?)and the Post Office built a large sorting office on the site. |

| 501 Squadron Married Quarters. Three short terraces fronting a square. 501 and other RAuxAF Squadrons were disbanded in February 1957. Buildings later used by BAC/BAe for archive storage. |

| Bristol Aeroplane Co. Engine Division "East Works" with main office building fronting the A38 and Nos. 1,2,3,4,and 5 Shops ranged behind. These were built 1935-38 to supply Mercury, Pegasus (and later Hercules) engines for the RAF's massive expansion. They were demolished in 2009 |

| Hangars of 501 Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force. In 1949 they had just converted from Spitfires to Vampire F.Mk.1 jets. One is just visible through the hangar doors
North of the hangar are a Valetta(?) and a Halifax.
The triple-bay and adjacent hangars are to be the basis of the new Bristol aviation museum scheduled to open in 2017. |
