' The Two Brewers P/House. There had been a Two Brewers P/H on the corner of the High St. junction with South St, since at least 1716. This building on the site opened in March 1896. The public house and the buildings on the left were all badly damaged on 30th September 1940. Twenty people died inside the Two Brewers P/H when the bomb exploded. Later the building was demolished and the land left untouched. In 2014 the Enfield Council made plans to turn the plot of ground into a memorial garden in memory of those who died that day. '
