' The Lift Bridge, next to the Red lion Pub. Traffic was regularly stopped whilst the bridge was raised to let barges pass on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Me and my brother used to jump on it when it went up, and would be chased down bridge road by the bridgemaster, whose house was on the left. Circa 1970. '
